The Beckham family feud has reached a boiling point.

Rumors of a growing rift between Brooklyn Beckham and his parents, Spice Girls singer Victoria Beckham and former soccer champ David Beckham, have been circulating since 2022, when the model married actress Nicola Peltz.

Many have speculated that Brooklyn's relationship with Peltz is the source of the familial tension, and Brooklyn confirmed as much in a scathing series of Instagram Stories shared on Monday, Jan. 19. "My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn't stopped," he claimed, while declaring that he has no desire to "reconcile" with his family.

So, what triggered the posts? And how have Brooklyn's relatives responded to his public airing of grievances? Below, we break down the Beckham family drama.**

Why is Brooklyn Beckham feuding with his parents?

As reported by PEOPLE, the feud allegedly began over a dress.

Initially, it was rumored that Peltz declined to wear a wedding dress designed by Victoria, instead walking down the aisle in a custom Valentino dress. Peltz told *Variety* in 2022 that there was no drama, and that the only reason she didn't wear a dress from Victoria was because "her atelier couldn't do it."

"She didn't say you can't wear it; I didn't say I didn't want to wear it," she asserted.

Still, rumors persisted, and in May 2025 a source told PEOPLE that Peltz had planned on wearing one of Victoria's dresses until Victoria changed her mind.**

More conflicting narratives about the wedding soon emerged, including one about Victoria allegedly "hijacking" a dance with her son at the reception. The song they danced to was said to be meant for Brooklyn and Peltz.

"Nicola felt like Victoria did this on purpose, when she knew it was a pre-planned romantic dance meant for Brooklyn and Nicola," a source told PEOPLE in May 2025, noting that Peltz left the room in tears. "What she couldn't understand was *why*."

That same month, eyebrows were raised when Brooklyn and Peltz didn't attend David's star-studded 50th birthday celebration in London. PEOPLE reported that the pair received an invite, but chose not to attend because Brooklyn didn't want to be in the same room as Kim Turnbull, who was then dating his brother Romeo.

Throughout the summer and fall, sources whispered of "tensions between Brooklyn and Nicola and the family" as various family members shared cryptic posts to social media fueling the fire. In late December, it was reported that David, Victoria, Brooklyn, and Peltz had unfollowed each other on Instagram, though Brooklyn's brother Cruz claimed that he, David, and Victoria had been blocked by Brooklyn. A representative for Victoria told PEOPLE at the time that Cruz "was responding to stories that [his] parents had unfollowed their son, which isn’t true."

On Jan. 19, Brooklyn took to his Instagram Stories to claim that David and Victoria "have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn't stopped."

Speaking about the dress incident, Brooklyn alleged that Victoria had promised to make a wedding dress for Peltz, but cancelled "in the eleventh hour," forcing Peltz "to urgently find a new dress."

He also claimed that Victoria had "hijacked" a dance at the wedding, noting that it was to a "romantic love song" and had been planned weeks prior. "She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life," he wrote.

Brooklyn also alleged that “the night before our wedding, members of my family told me that Nicola was ‘not blood’ and ‘not family.’"

As for David's 50th birthday party, Brooklyn said he and Peltz traveled to London for the party, but "were rejected for a week as we waited in our hotel room trying to plan quality time with him." He went on to claim that David "refused all of our attempts, unless it was at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner."

He continued, "When he finally agreed to see me, it was under the condition that Nicola wasn’t invited. It was a slap in the face. Later, when my family travelled to LA, they refused to see me at all."

This, Brooklyn claimed, was one of several examples of how the "family values public promotion and endorsements [coming] above all else." He even alleged that he was "repeatedly pressured" by his parents prior to his wedding to "[sign] away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children."

That alleged desire to control him and "Brand Beckham," he claimed, has led his parents to "place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade."

He wrote, “I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed."**

As Brooklyn put it, he's "standing up for myself the first time in my life," and has no desire to "reconcile" with his family.

How have the Beckhams responded to Brooklyn’s claims?

During an appearance on CNBC's *Squawk Box*, David indirectly addressed his son's Instagram post. Though he didn't explicitly name Brooklyn, he said during a discussion of social media and mental health that his kids "make mistakes."

"Children are allowed to make mistakes," he added. "That's how they learn. That's what I try to teach my kids, but, you know, you have to sometimes let them make those mistakes as well."**

A reporter from Sky News attempted to ask David about Brooklyn at the 2026 World Economic Forum, though David refused to answer.*******Get your daily dose of entertainment news, celebrity updates, and what to watch with our EW Dispatch newsletter.***
