- Navarro reacted to audience surprise over the announcement of Vance's surprise interview on the talk show.
- "It shouldn't be surprising. He's got a book," Navarro quipped on the show's *Behind the Table* podcast.
- The Republican panelist said she wants to ask Vance questions on "several issues where there's sunlight between him and Donald Trump."
*The View* cohost Ana Navarro, frequent subject of heated verbal attacks from the White House, plans to turn the tables and hold Vice President JD Vance's feet to the fire when he sits for an interview next week at the Hot Topics table.
Hours after news broke Thursday that Vance would appear on the talk show, Navarro previewed the discussion she wants to have with the controversial MAGA Republican when he joins all six cohosts for the discussion.
"What do you want to hear from him? I think people are kind of surprised he's coming, actually," *View* producer Brian Teta asked Navarro on the talk show's *Behind the Table* podcast, referencing criticism the show received after some fans expressed that they didn't like that the show planned to promote Vance.

"It shouldn't be surprising. He's got a book. I think that everybody, including Republicans, know that at *The View*, we're really good at selling books," Navarro — herself a Republican who has long been critical of Donald Trump and Vance — said.
She continued, justifying the interview by saying she and her cohosts will probe Vance on important topics.
"I think it's a very relevant time, and I want to ask him questions about Epstein, I want to ask him questions where there's several issues where there's sunlight between him and Donald Trump," she continued. "The war, new military action, all these new wars, he seems to be a lot more tuned into the MAGA manosphere than Trump is, and really works those relationships than practically anybody else in the White House."

Ana Navarro explodes on former Disney Channel star in epic on-air fight: 'Have you no shame?'

Navarro added that she hopes "to have a constructive conversation about the issues Americans care about and are on Americans' minds, and that it doesn't turn into some free-for-all for the sake of creating a moment for him so that he can go out and sell books" — which is, she said, "what often happens with Republicans" who appear on *The View*.
"Hopefully it's passionate debate that's respectful," voiced Teta, after the show welcomed other far-right conservatives to the table in the recent past, including Marjorie Taylor Greene and controversial former cohost Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who guest-cohosted for a weeklong stint earlier this year.
Vance's team hasn't responded to **'s repeated requests for comment since the announcement of his *View* interview
Navarro and her *View* cohosts have frequently found themselves in the White House's crosshairs over their criticism for the current administration. The White House has released several statements to EW in the past, with some questioning Navarro's intellect and others accusing her and her fellow panelists as suffering from "Trump Derangement Syndrome."
Vance's interview also comes amid ongoing drama between the Federal Communications Commission and the ABC talk show, which FCC head Brendan Carr has often spoken out against in over what he said is a left-leaning bias and the show's alleged violation of the "equal time" rule for political candidates after the program welcomed Texas Senate candidate James Talarico for an on-air interview.

In response to the FCC's probe into the alleged "equal time" violation — which stipulates that candidates of any given political race should be given the same amount of air time as a competitor in the same race — Disney, ABC's parent company, recently filed a petition for declaratory ruling that accused the FCC of attempting "to upend decades of settled law and practice and chill critical protected speech."
Vance's *View* interview is scheduled for Tuesday, June 16 at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.**
