Tom Holland is back in theaters with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and fans have responded overwhelmingly positively to the movie. Many have praised Peter Parker‘s more mature, grounded, and emotionally worn-down portrayal. However, one small detail is keeping fans wondering: how exactly does a broke character have access to expensive-looking tech?

Following his identity-wiped events in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Parker has lost all access to Stark Industries funding, advanced nanotech, and corporate resources. In the new movie, he uses sophisticated equipment to upgrade his own suit, and even build an AI assistant. The movie never explained where it all came from, and fans are building their own theories, with few more thought-out than what Marvel actually put on screen.
