At least 95 passengers and six crew members were sickened by a norovirus outbreak on an AIDA Cruises world sailing aboard its AIDAdiva ship

According to the CDC, the German cruise line took action to prevent the outbreak from spreading, such as isolating the ill passengers and crew

The ship is currently on a 133-day world cruise making stops in the U.S., England, Mexico, Japan, South Africa and more

A norovirus outbreak on an AIDA Cruises’ ship has sickened more than 100 passengers and crew members, according to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The AIDAdiva ship is currently on a 133-day world cruise that stops in the U.S., England, Mexico, Japan, South Africa and more, according to data pulled by CruiseMapper. The cruise line — whose parent company is Carnival Corporation — is based in Germany. The ship departed from Hamburg on Nov. 10.

According to the CDC’s report, the norovirus outbreak was reported on Nov. 30 after it made stops in Boston, New York, Miami and Charleston, S.C.

At least 95 of 2,007 passengers “reported being ill during the voyage,” as well as six of the 640 crew members on board, per the report.

The CDC lists the crew and passengers' predominant symptoms as diarrhea and vomiting, with the “causative agent” being norovirus.

As a result of the outbreak, crew members aboard the ship consulted with the CDC’s Vessel Sanitation Program regarding proper cleaning procedures and reporting cases. They also “isolated ill passengers and crew, increased cleaning and disinfection procedures, and collected stool specimens from gastrointestinal illness cases for testing,” according to the report.

PEOPLE reached out to AIDA Cruises for comment but did not receive an immediate response.

While the CDC report lists the voyage dates as Nov. 10 to Dec. 16, the world cruise officially concludes on March 23, 2026, when it is set to arrive back at Hamburg, per an itinerary listed on its website.

The cruise line already has information listed for its next world cruise on its AIDAsol ship, which will run from Oct. 18, 2026 to Feb. 21, 2027. According to its website, the 126-day sailing will visit 43 ports, 20 countries and four continents.

Since the beginning of 2025, the CDC has reported 21 norovirus outbreaks on cruise ships. The agency states all cruise ships are required to report any gastrointestinal (GI) illness symptoms during sailings.

The most recent outbreak occurred during a sailing on Oceania Cruises’ Insignia ship in October, during which more than 70 people were sickened on the 11-day voyage.
