Jennie Garth Confirms Tori Spelling’s Sudden Exit from “Beverly Hills, 90210” Podcast: ‘I’m Sad About That’

Jennie Garth has confirmed that Tori Spelling exited their Beverly Hills, 90210 rewatchpodcast

The former costars had been hosting 90210MG since 2020

“I’m excited for her to choose herself,” Garth said of Spelling’s decision during the Friday, July 31 episode

Tori Spelling has departed her and Jennie Garth’s Beverly Hills, 90210 podcast.

On the Friday, July 31, episode of their rewatch podcast 90210MG, Garth and co-host Amy Sugarman explained the reason for Spelling’s sudden exit, in an effort to “tell everybody what’s going on.”

“As everyone knows, Tori has not been here for a bit, right? She’s not been doing the show for a bit for many reasons. About two weeks ago, she made the decision — which I’m sure was a really, very tough decision for her — but she let us know… she had decided she wasn’t going to continue with the podcast,” Sugarman opened the episode, calling the move “100% her decision.”

“We can be really bummed, disappointed that she’s not going to do seasons 9 and 10 with us, with you, while still wanting her to be happy and to be excited for her about the things she is working on and does want to do,” she added.

Garth, 54, shared a little more insight into the decision from Spelling, 53, revealing that she’s “sad that she’s not finishing this out with us.”

“We started it together and I’m sad about that, if I’m being honest, which I always am,” Garth said. “But I’m also really excited for the podcast to come in to [seasons] 9 and 10 because I know we have a lot of great stuff in store… Also, I’m really happy for her. I’m excited for her to choose herself.”

Sugarman added, “We had all decided together that today was the day we were gonna tell everybody. That’s why we’re letting you know, right now, what’s happening.”

The pair teased “special guests” moving forward on the show, with Garth explaining why she’s in it for the long haul. “I can’t stop,” she said of the podcast. “This has been the craziest awakening of remembering so many things in my life by watching the show back and getting back in touch with me — the person playing Kelly Taylor. It’s been this really great experience for me.”

PEOPLE has reached out to a rep for Spelling for comment. Per an Instagram Live viewed by Entertainment Weekly earlier in the week, Spelling confirmed her departure due to wanting to pursue other projects.

Beverly Hills, 90210 ran from 1990 to 2000 and also starred Brian Austin Green, Jason Priestley, Luke Perry, Shannen Doherty and others.

Garth and Spelling launched their rewatch podcast in November 2020 with iHeartRadio, and have spent the last several years reflecting on old episodes of the teen drama, which ran for 10 seasons. At the time, Garth told PEOPLE that it marked her first time rewatching the show, as she said didn’t “think I’ve seen a single episode all the way through” up until that point.
