Emma Finucane is competing at her second Commonwealth Games

Emma Finucane made history with a gold medal in the 1,000m time trial.

The 23-year-old becomes the first Welsh woman to win three gold medals at a single Commonwealth Games.

Finucane won team sprint gold on Thursday and repeated the feat in the individual sprint on Friday.

The Olympic gold medallist set the pace, clocking one minute 05.285 seconds in an event making its Games debut this year.

This guaranteed the Carmarthen cyclist a bronze medal, with just two left to ride.

Neither England's Sophie Capewell nor Kiwi Ellesse Andrews were able to match that mark.

Finucane has one race remaining in Glasgow when she rides the women's keirin on Sunday.

One more gold would make her the most successful Welsh woman in Commonwealth Games history.

Team-mate Megan Barker, usually an endurance rider, finished fifth in 1:06.345.
